Consulting firm for investment migration Henley & Partners has released a report suggesting that there are over 40,000 crypto millionaires in the world who own Bitcoin (BTC). According to the "Crypto Wealth Report" by the firm, published on September 5th, a total of 88,200 individuals are crypto millionaires, out of which 40,500 hold BTC.
The report also reveals that out of 182 individuals who own crypto assets worth over $100 million, 78 of them hold Bitcoin. Among the 22 crypto traders who hold more than $1 billion, 6 have "accumulated their wealth through Bitcoin trading."
According to Henley & Partners, this growth in the number of crypto millionaires is a response to concerns about future bans or restrictions on crypto trading or usage in their respective countries. This report underscores the increasing importance of cryptocurrencies as a means of wealth preservation and portfolio diversification.
Despite the rise in the number of crypto millionaires, they continue to be a small fraction of the total number of millionaires worldwide. As of July 2023, there are approximately 1.2023 million millionaires on the planet, which means that less than 0.2% of them have significant crypto holdings.
